Paddling Pool Update
Work is continuing to refurbish the paddling pool at Penmaenmawr.
The contractors are on site to continue the work to resurface the paddling pool and surrounding apron before the new non-slip coating can be added.
The Contractors are looking to make use of the dry weather forecast for the beginning of next week to get the surfaces prepared so that the three layers of the non-slip surface can be applied next week. The team leader has confirmed that, unless there are unforeseen problems with the weather, they are expecting to have the work completed before the end of October.
While many Penmaenmawr residents have been frustrated by the lack of progress that Conwy County Borough Council have made in the work to bring the paddling pools up to current standards, Penmaenmawr Town Council have been working to ensure that the County Council keep to their promise to have the work completed before 2024 summer season.
Deputy Mayor of Penmaenmawr Town Council, Cllr Sarah Williams said “While the Town Council are really pleased that the work is progressing to complete the work, we understand the impact that the lack of this important community amenity has had. Not only have local children been denied the use of the paddling pool, there has been a real impact on those visiting the town, wanting to make use of our beautiful beach. The reduction of visitor numbers has had an impact on money coming into the local economy and we hope that having the paddling pool open for all of next year helps get visitor numbers back up.”
