Welcome to our new Town Councillor, Cathy Augustine
Conwy County Borough Councillor, Cathy Augustine, who represents Penmaenmawr at County level, has also been co-opted onto Penmaenmawr Town Council to fill the vacancy on Penmaenman Ward.
Cllr Augustine brings a wealth of experience to the role and said:
“When I stood successfully for election to CCBC in May 2022, I was just getting to know the area. I’ve now gained insights into the challenges that this relatively recently formed Town Council faces. There’s a huge amount of work but also a driving ambition to deliver for our community and I want to contribute to that with enthusiasm and also my relevant experience.
Having spent over 30 years in the corporate world of HR and communications I believe I possess many transferable skills that I can and will bring to PTC covering events, logistics, planning and engagement.
I was one of 21 town councillors across five wards when I lived in Didcot where my focus was on health provision for a rapidly growing population. I called and organised well attended public meetings for residents to question and challenge the local health authority on their plans. This resulted in a new health centre being planned for the town together with children’s parks, green spaces and allotments.
I’m passionate about our local area, enthusiastic and determined to get the right outcomes for our community. I am a Welsh learner and keen to promote our Welsh language, culture and history. I’m happy to roll my sleeves up and get things done – from weeding and litter picking to organising engagement events.”
